The main theme for this third conference is “Creating Connection: Intelligent Design for a Sustainable Future,” aims to explore the role of intelligent design in fostering sustainable development. This theme emphasizes the importance of innovative, thoughtful design solutions that bridge gaps and build connections between people, communities, and the environment to create a more sustainable future. By focusing on “Creating Connection: Intelligent Design for a Sustainable Future,” the conference aims to be a catalyst for change, inspiring participants to develop and implement design solutions that contribute to a more sustainable and connected world.
The conference will welcome theories, methods, and implementations of innovation in media and visual design. Topics include, but not limited to:

IMDES ARTWORK EXHIBITION 2025 OPEN SUBMISSION CATEGORIES
1. OCW1 - Original Creative Works (Visual Artwork): Visual art in original creative work refers to the outcome of a creation in a non-recorded/rendered medium that conveys new ideas, knowledge and/or further develop and deepens and understanding of the creative arts.
Works may include:
- Painting
- Photographic image
- Sculpture or installation
- Fine arts
- Crafts
- Textile work
- Illustration
- Character design
- Decoration or embellishment
- Collateral design
- Digital copy or significant representation of the work
- Photographs of the artwork (can be photographed from several angles).
- Introducing new ideas/forms to a specific genre or to the visual arts as a whole
- Integrating new technological research
- Integrating new innovative material/production methods
- Employing new or unconventional combinations of media in cross-disciplinary creation
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE:
Evidence of the artwork has been publicly exhibited can include, but is not limited to, the following, with supporting details such as dates, venues/platforms, and the creator's name(s):
- Presentation at a venue recognized nationally or internationally by experts in the field, such as a festival or renowned gallery
- Digital presentation, distribution, and discussion through established media organizations, online journals, podcasts, or social media platforms
- Commissioning by a nationally or internationally recognized peer review body, distinguished public or private body
- Recognition through awards, short-listing, prizes, honors, exhibition catalogue from reputable academic or commercial publishers
- Acquisition by a public or private collection
- Substantial public recognition of the work by peers in the field through online or print reviews, including in academic journals, professional publications or established critical blogs.

2. OCW2 - Original Creative Works (Architectural Work): The creation of new and original architectural works that expand knowledge or experience and/or advance the development and understanding of architecture and the built environment.
Works may include:
- Realized, constructed, fabricated or unrealized building and design projects
- "Unrealized" projects must have an output that provides evidence of the research involved
- Digital outputs of architectural and design projects
- Interdisciplinary designs or installations
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT (at least one required):
- Digital renderings or significant representations of the architectural design
- High-quality photographs of the completed structure, including various angles and interior/exterior details
RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION:
The work should exhibit originality in at least one of the following ways:
- Challenging disciplinary conventions
- Yielding new and highly innovative approaches or techniques
- Addressing existing issues in new ways
- Creating unusual combinations of media.
- New techniques of conceptualization, design, fabrication, or compositional processes
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE:
Evidence of the artwork has been publicly exhibited can include, but is not limited to, the following, with supporting details such as dates, venues/platforms, and the creator's name(s):
- Exhibition or publication in a venue or through a digital platform recognised nationally or internationally by peers in the discipline, such as architectural biennales, exhibitions, or conferences
- Digital presentation, distribution, and discussion through established architectural platforms, online journals, podcasts, or social media
- Commissioning by a nationally or internationally recognized peer review body, or a distinguished public or private organization
- Recognition through awards, short-listings, prizes, honors, or inclusion in architectural catalogues or publications from reputable academic or commercial publishers
- Acquisition of design models, plans, or related materials by a public or private collection
- Significant public recognition of the work by peers in the field through online or print reviews, including in architectural journals, professional publications, or established critical blogs

3. OCW3 - Original Creative Works (Textual): The production of new written works or the generation of unique insights about existing texts, aimed at expanding knowledge or advancing understanding in creative arts, public affairs, or academic fields.
Works may include:
- Novels, play scripts, art reviews, essays, books of poetry and other published literary works in book form
- Exhibition catalogues that may include substantive research ideas, but not only intended for scholarly readership
- Scholarly editions and scholarly translations
- Text-based feature and investigative journalism published as a book
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT (at least one required)
- The full published text in digital form.
- Front matter (title page, publishing details, table of contents, list of contributors, preface or introduction)
RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION:
The work should exhibit originality in at least one of the following ways:
- Introduce fresh perspectives to broader cultural or social discussions.
- Advance or expand upon existing theoretical or historical debates.
- Demonstrate originality by pushing the boundaries of established ideas, genres, forms, methods, approaches, or scholarly and creative techniques.
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE:
Evidence of the artwork has been publicly exhibited can include, but is not limited to, the following, with supporting details such as dates, venues/platforms, and the creator's name(s):
- Publication, including through performance, in theaters, other venues, or events recognized nationally or internationally by peers in the field, such as literary or writers’ festivals, conferences, book fairs.
- Publication by leading academic or commercial presses, media organizations, galleries, or museums.
- Online hosting by prominent institutions.
- Commissioning by a nationally or internationally recognized peer review body, distinguished public or private body
- Recognition through awards, short-listing, prizes, honors.
- Significant public recognition of the work by peers in the field through online or print reviews, including in academic journals, by commercial publishers in the national or international press, and/or by not-for-profit bodies of national and international reputation

4. RCW1 - Recorded/Rendered Creative Work (Audio/Visual/Audio Visual): A new creative work in an audio/visual medium that uses innovative production techniques, technologies, methods or materials that generates new/expand knowledge, understanding, or experience of the creative arts. For this category, the research is reflected in the recording or rendering process instead of the performance.
Works may include:
- Use of innovative production techniques in films, documentaries, video-based podcasts, moving or still image-based or screen- based work, or audio-visual presentations
- Use of innovative sound or video/film techniques in films, documentaries video-based podcasts, moving or still image-based or screen- based work, or audio-visual presentations
- Production of new material specifically for an audio-visual medium
- Audio-visual work that develops or uses new applications, techniques, methodologies
- Work developed through cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Original scores
- Notated/re-interpreted scores
- Audio compositions
- Improvised performance compositions
- Scores for film, theatre, multimedia, creative arrangements and algorithmic compositions
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT (at least one required)
- Digital or video (audio-visual) recording, or substantial representation, of the recorded work.
- Documentation of the recording or rendering event, including details such as the date, venue, and contributors.
- Evidence of the recording process, including innovation and new interpretations.
RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION:
The work should exhibit originality in at least one of the following ways:
- Developing new applications, production processes, or modes of presentation
- Utilizing hybrid forms that combine typically unrelated creative practices or introduce new combinations of disciplinary genres.
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE:
Evidence of the artwork has been publicly exhibited can include, but is not limited to, the following, with supporting details such as dates, venues/platforms, and the creator's name(s):
- Commissioning by a nationally or internationally recognised peer review body, distinguished public or private body, commissioning curator or festival director

5. RCW2 - Recorded/Rendered Creative Work (Digital Creative Work): A new and original creative work created for digital medium that employs innovative production techniques, technologies, methods or materials to generate new/expand knowledge, understanding, or experience of the creative arts.
Works may include:
- 3D or multidimensional models (including asset and sculpting)
- Creative and interactive computer applications
- Digital games and visual artworks
- Digital apps and computer programs
- Digital outputs of architectural, illustration, and design project
- Digital Art book
- Digital Media Production Techniques
- Digital capture or substantial representation of the work.
- Evidence of the digital work’s creation
- Documentation of the creative process, including innovation, new interpretations, an overview of computer code, and app frameworks
RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION:
The work should exhibit originality in at least one of the following ways:
- Creation or use of innovative applications, techniques, or methods
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Development of new visualization and modeling techniques
- Expanding modeling approaches to additional dimensions
- Applying existing materials, forms, software, or ideas in new ways
- Combining creative practices or media into hybrid forms
- Developing new interactive applications or methods
- Using visualization and dynamic modeling in new fields
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE:
Evidence of the artwork has been publicly exhibited can include, but is not limited to, the following, with supporting details such as dates, venues/platforms, and the creator's name(s):
- Commissioning by a nationally or internationally recognized peer review body, distinguished public or private body, commissioning curator or festival director.

RCW3 - Recorded/Rendered Creative Work (Inter-arts Work): The type of inter-art emphasizes the integration of different mediums—traditional, digital, and contemporary—to create a cohesive, innovative narrative. Commonly original, newly recorded, or rendered creative work designed for an interactive digital medium, resulting from systematic research based on experimental, interactive, hybrid, or interdisciplinary arts processes that employs innovative production techniques, technologies, methods or materials to generate new/expand knowledge, understanding, or experience of the creative arts.
Works may include:
- Experimental audio recordings
- Interactive installations with electronic, digital or audio-visual component
- Collaborative recordings across disciplinary fields
- Innovative approaches to existing content, forms, ideas or techniques
- Digital capture/recording or substantial representation of the work.
- Evidence of the digital work’s creation
- Documentation of the creative process, including innovation, new interpretations, an overview of computer code, and app frameworks
RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION:
The work should exhibit originality in at least one of the following ways:
- By utilizing hybrid forms that combine typically unrelated creative practices or explore new media combinations.
- By challenging conventional relationships between artist, audience, and social or physical spaces, such as empowering the audience with a degree of creative agency.
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE:
Evidence of the artwork has been publicly exhibited can include, but is not limited to, the following, with supporting details such as dates, venues/platforms, and the creator's name(s):
- Commissioning by a nationally or internationally recognized peer review body, distinguished public or private body, commissioning curator or festival director.
